A FEW MORE STEPS TOWARDS A BRIGHT FUTURE

April awakens like a breath of fresh air, bringing with it the soft colours of spring. The days are getting longer, and nature is coming to life…
On 22 April, Earth Day invites us to celebrate and protect the fragile balance that surrounds us. In this spirit, let’s take a look together at the wonderful initiatives that Kiwanis clubs across Europe have recently undertaken.

Kiwanis Club Craiova implemented the FREE POLLINATORS, a project dedicated to environmental education and youth involvement in protecting pollinators and local biodiversity. The initiative aims to raise awareness in the community about the essential role of bees and other pollinators in ecosystems, but also to develop concrete actions that contribute to their conservation.

Kiwanis Club Catania Est 🌿 Planting for the Future 🌿
Students of the Rodari Nosengo School took part in a special sustainability initiative by planting an olive tree, generously provided by the President of the Kiwanis Club Catania Est, Nino Papotto. 🎓 Our students were the true protagonists, actively engaging in activities focused on environmental awareness and sustainability.

Kiwanis Club Corabia launched a green project at “Al. I. Cuza” Theoretical High School in Corabia, where Key Club students, together with members of the Kiwanis Club Corabia and teachers, planted trees and ornamental plants in the schoolyard. A beautiful step toward a greener future and toward engaging young people in protecting the environment.

Kiwanis Club of West Seattle – yes, we know, it's not in Europe but it highlights the strong environmental awareness promoted within Kiwanis International. This vision is fully aligned with the European Green Education Service, confirming that environmental care is a priority embraced across the entire international Kiwanis community. The club contributed US$100 to support Summit Atlas students’ giving garden this year. The Gardening Club is cleaning up the garden and getting it ready for spring planting.

KIWANIS IN ACTION – A STRONG HUMANITARIAN EFFORT FOR UKRAINIAN CHILDREN 🩵💛

Last March, many members of the Luxembourg Kiwanis Clubs Uelzechtdall, Hesper Roude Léiw, Alstad, Gëlle Fra and Mondorf, together with KCF Trustee Markus Lanz and his wife Daniela, and KI past President Daniel Vigneron joined forces for an important humanitarian initiative of Kiwanis International-Europe and the Kiwanis Children’s Fund.

With great dedication, energy and teamwork, more than 3,420 bags filled with delicious and nutritious treats for Ukrainian children were packed and palletized. In addition, 46 donated mattresses, various pieces of furniture and essential kitchen equipment were prepared for shipment.

In total, around 50 pallets were loaded onto 2 trucks provided by Nunucu Transporte and sent to the Marelbo’s intermediate warehouse in Romania. There, the goods were transferred to smaller transport vehicles and transported by Ukrainian volunteers directly into Ukraine—to provide aid where it is urgently needed.

Watch the report on RTL Play Luxembourg – it’s in Luxembourgish, but the images speak for themselves🥹
