| Action in favor of Ukrainian children,
in partnership with SOS Children's Villages:
A French author dedicates the profits from the sale
of his latest book to this project! | You'll remember that last October, Kiwanis International-Europe (KI-E) launched a project to help Ukrainian children and families, in collaboration with SOS Children's Villages (see details of the project below). So far, thanks to your help, we've already managed to raise over 86,000 EURO! Our warmest thanks to all the members and clubs who have participated! In addition, Albert Bour, a French author and also a Kiwanian, has decided to support this campaign by making a donation from the proceeds of his latest book. The book will be published in French in September. For those who are interested: click on this link. We're delighted with Albert's gesture and would like to thank him warmly for his support! Chair Social project KI-E 2023-24 | | How can we help families in Ukraine?
Kiwanis in Europe works with SOS Children's Villages. This organization has been running children's villages in Ukraine for many years. In the wake of the war, they have created many new reception points for internally displaced families, sometimes with partners. As a result, they know the situation inside out and have the contacts needed to take effective action. What are the aims of SOS in Ukraine? - Helping single-parent families, orphans, disabled children and severely traumatized children
- Prevent the separation of families and provide them with essential aid such as security, food, livelihood, health and education
- Protect children in emergency situations
- Create a substitute family environment for children who have lost their families
- prevent these children from being placed in state institutions, which are totally overwhelmed and lack the resources to create an environment conducive to children's development
How does SOS work in the field?
Children and young people who have lost their parents, or who have had to flee with a single mother or foster family, are taken to safety and cared for by professionals; families in need receive direct assistance to enable them to cope with emergencies and ensure their children's education. For the year 2023-24, SOS plans to help at least 170,000 people, with financial requirements estimated at 33 million euros. | |
